Dr. Edelstein

Dr. Edelstein was born and raised in Cuba. He received his Bachelor of Science in Cuba prior to attending medical school in Madrid, Spain. He then completed his pediatric residency with Case Western Reserve University where he trained at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital both in Cleveland, Ohio. He then served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for two years prior to receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of major. Next, he moved to Miami to work at the University of Miami Comprehensive Health Care Center to helm the medical education program for both medical students and pediatric residents. In 1972, as a solo practitioner he started what would become Gables Pediatrics. Over the next 40+ years, the practice continued to grow and expand into what now is a practice that includes eight pediatricians and a staff of more than thirty.

He has also served as an outstanding educator at Miami Children’s Hospital where he taught students and residents for more than 25 years. He is a current board member for Hope for Vision, which provides funds and support to researchers and doctors who are instrumental in the fight against blinding diseases. He also is involved in fundraising for Saint Jude’s Children Hospital.

He is board certified in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics and licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
